Potato Sack Wall Hanging

Last year over the summer I was given some fresh potato's from our fellow country folk along with those potato's was the burlap sacks. Now usually when we receive potato's from our neighbors in this town we get them in a cardboard box fresh from the field.

So with one of those sacks I created a wall hanging for my dining room

This project was not hard at all here is how I did it!

Supplies Needed:
Old frame or frame of your choice
Staple Gun
Staples for your gun
Scissors
Marker or Sharpie
Potato Sack

Ok first I started out with an old frame I had just laying around the house I then started figuring out what part of the sack I wanted to show once I had that figured out I went along the parts I didn't need with a Sharpie.

So when I go to cut it to fit the frame I know where and what I need to trim off I left just a little to stretch out so I could staple.

I then flipped my frame over and began to lay my potato sack where I wanted it and started to staple now all I did was started off in one corner of the frame and stapled down the potato sack and worked my way around making sure I pulled tight as best I could to staple.

Once you have it all stapled you should have something similar to this

ENJOY!

Builder Grade Light Fixture Revamp

TGIF!!

For some reason I have felt like this week would never end it has been a long week between taking Tino to his therapy and trying to declutter and organize the house i've been a busy bee.
So in the rent house we are at now the light fixture in the dining room is far from anything amazing….. although it could be a lot worse! We are dealing with a brushed nickel finished builder grade 5 shade light fixture Blah!

Look At me Now! So what do You think?

Now believe it or not I revamp'd this fixture for $13 all it takes is a little time here is how I did it!

SUPPLY LIST
Glue Gun
Hot Glue Sticks
Scissors
Left over Material or Material of your choice
Upholstery Trimming (I bought 6 1/4 yards)-had a lot left over
Small Lamp Shades (I used 5 total and I bought mine at a thrift store for $1 each)
Pencil (optional but recommended)

Start out with your light fixture and figure out how to remove the glass globes mine was fairly easy set the light bulbs and bolts that held the glass globes to the side.

I prepped my Area with a cheap plastic mat and set everything that I would need out I also precut my fabric into strips the length and size I wanted them to be on my lampshade now I did not mind if my fabric frayed I wanted that look but if you want a more clean look I would suggest using fray check or trimming out the edges once glued down.

Step 1: I started out by unwrapping all of my $1 lampshades and making sure to bend those rods on the inside of the shade to fit my fixture and go around my bulb!

I then took my plain shade and found the seam

Step 2: I started just pre laying my strips of fabric out around the shade figuring out how I wanted them and how many I was going to end up using on one shade before gluing them down placing pencil marks at where I wanted each strip of fabric. Once I had that figured out I began gluing my first strip down I started at the seam but you can start where ever you would like. I just found the seam to be easier I then put a little dab of hot glue one the inside of my shade and glued down the end of my fabric.

I then worked my way around the shade one piece of fabric at a time I continued to do this to all the rest of the shades till I was done ( I used only 4 pieces of fabric to each shade) but depending on the size of the shade and what you like you can use more.

Now that all your shades should have the strips of fabric on them lets move on to step 3!

You can find this upholstery trimming at nearly any Fabric or Craft store
I bought mine at Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon!

Step 3: Take the upholstery trimming of your choice I chose red because of my dining room and kitchen colors. Take the trim and measure around the bottom and top part of your shade with it and cut the size you need both top and bottom. Do this to all your shades (note: you do not have to do the top if you don't want to I liked the way it looked it is personal preference) once you have all your pieces cut set the bottom in one separate pile and the top in another pile.

I then started pre placing my trimming around the bottom and top before gluing down

Now once you have you have a general idea of how you want your trimming placed I started on the bottom once again at the seam with a dab of hot glue I worked my way around the shade do so to all the shades once you are done with the bottom take the same concept and do so to the top part of the shade (If you decided to fix the top also).

Once your Done with gluing the trimming to all your shades you should have something like this!

Last Step: Last but not least check out all your shades and see if you need to follow up on any spots with some hot glue.

You Are Finished!!!!!!
Now all that's left is attaching them to your light fixture and you should have something similar to this:

Not Bad considering it did at one point look like this!

It's not as hard as it seems it just takes a little time and patience

Sorry for the long tutorial I just didn't want to leave anything out!

If you have any questions i'll be more than happy to answer them hope you enjoyed my tutorial!

Craigslist Picture

Ok so I will have to Admit although I am not super girly I do love girly frilly things and I was in love with this picture since I had first seen it at Hobby Lobby and I just never got around to buying it although the price was not to extreme because I have seen paintings of this size go for a pretty penny even though they are knock offs. I had to have it I just did not get around to buying it and every time I would run into it I would not have the funds to actually purchase it. I was thinking to myself will I ever be able to get this painting if it's not meant to be it's not meant to be!
Well one day while browsing craigslist I came across the infamous painting I thought to myself can this be AHA! We meet again at Last…. Now How Much is the Question? and I hope this is not one of those fake ads or scams reason being is because of the price they were asking for it and also because there was only one photo of this item. So I did some research and contacted them asking if the item was still available and if so how much were they asking for it again. To my luck it was still available and boy did I jump on it and you would have to pry it from my GI Joe Kung fu Grip to take it away from me! So I packed up Myself and Tino for a small road trip into the city I drove 45 Miles to pick this baby up being that I live out in the boonies and we either have to drive 8 miles to the next town to go to the grocery store or 45 Miles to the Big City but well worth the drive! I scored this lovely for $15 in excellent shape no scratches or dents it was in real good condition I was so excited that I could not wait to get it home. So Tino and I hit the road back home the whole time Tino is just enjoying the ride and probably thinking to himself MOM really all of this for a painting You Better Believe it Son!

Now upon unloading my son and then unloading this Picture I came across the tag on the back of it and to my surprise I scored this baby cheap! Now I have a perfect spot for this I am not giving away where yet but there will be a picture real soon until then stay tuned!

So those who say you cannot find nothing good on craigslist the proof is in the pudding!

Garden Ridge/ Target Haul!

My Garden Ridge/Target Haul!

Now I don't know about you guys but I love deals especially when it's on anything that deals with the Home! Wether it be just one item or I might take home 6 items like I did today the point is I can't pass up a good deal. My first stop was the store my fiancĂ© dreads even walking in to with me because he says it never fails I always come out with something little or big. No it's not Hobby Lobby although another favorite of mine and not his….. but back to the subject this store I am talking about is located in a pretty good size building it use to be a SAM'S CLUB so we are talking about warehouse size!!!!!!!!! What more could I ask for the store I am talking about is Garden Ridge now I know they have stores in just certain areas just like IKEA and Home Goods but because I have neither of those this one works just fine for me! Although (Hint Hint) it wouldn't be a bad Idea to bring one of those to the Lubbock,Tx or Amarillo,Tx Area!

So first Deal of the day is my lovely clock I am a sucker for Clocks working or not!

I Got this Lovely for Half off the Sticker Price making this $25.00
The Second Item I bought was a package of Orbs they came 6 to a pack I bought two packages of each making 12 total I will post a Pic here soon on what I actually used these for!

Two Packages of Orbs qty 6 to a package $16 for two packages!
Last but not least I bought me two picture frames for my nightstands I could not pass these up I loved the design.

Half off the sticker price making them $3.50 give or take I bought two for $7.00

Now for my Target purchase I really really really wanted a Duvet or Quilt preferably from Pottery Barn ha yea right! A girl can wish can't she? So I had to settle for what I can afford even though I have champagne taste on a beer budget…. would I buy from pottery barn no questions asked it's just right now this girl is trying to get by with saving  so I can finally order from them haha! There's a method to my madness! So I took a little trip down to target found a quilt I adored for $79.99 and the shams were $19.99 I was real close to getting it till my fiancĂ© found a set he liked now I know what your probably saying right now YOU TRUST HIM!!! Not on every decision but being that he spoils me and lets me always make the decisions on the Decor except for his Horse Racing wall I wanted to give him his own little touch to our room and I think he did pretty good even though I loved the quilt I have began to love this set it's not set in stone I can always change it up! And him being the lovely person he is said I could still get my quilt or my duvet I wanted from pottery barn so in the end it works out for the both of us!

This is a 8 Piece set that was $79.99 not bad at all!
So all in all my little shopping adventure was not as bad as I thought it would be for those 6 items it was  $127 not including tax.
